Bio

Troy Emley enters his sixth season as the head coach for the RedTails Sports Shooting team. With fiveyears under his belt, Emley is looking to add more to the success on the field, in the classroom, and in life from the previous four seasons.

Emley has been involved in hunting and shooting since a young age. He enrolled at Nebraska Christian College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministries in May 2003. As a minister, Emley experienced the shooting sports with his congregation and fell in love with the sport.

He had founded and served as head coach at a local middle/high school sports shooting team, beginning in 2013; he continued in this capacity until 2016.  He received his coaching authorization certification in 2013, and his Associate of Arts in gunsmith technology from Iowa Valley Community College in 2015. He has earned certifications, including the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Basic Shotgun Coaches Certification and the National Rifle Association: Shotgun Coach (Level 2). In the past year, Coach earned: Amateur Trapshooting Association: Shotgun Coach Level I, National Sporting Clays Association: Level I Shooting Instructor, and National Skeet Shooting Association: Associate Skeet Instructor.  Coach Emley serves on the Waterloo Izaak Walton League Board.  

Troy lives in Independence with his wife, Jordan, a hospice nurse and accomplished pianist. He has three children: Nolan, works for a conservation company near St. Paul, MN; Elizabeth Spencer, who is a dirt track race car enthusiast.
