RedTails Men’s Bowling Team Performs as a Team by Keeping the Energy Level High

The RedTail men scored eighth overall at the Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament on January 27th through January 28th, 2024 in Cedar Rapids.

This past weekend in Cedar Rapids, the Men's Bowling team participated in the Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament. The RedTail men had a fairly good weekend despite only finishing eighth out of the 10 teams. Assistant coach Joe Squires said: "They performed the best as a team thus far this year, but just couldn't get the breaks to string enough strikes together like some of the other teams competing especially during Sunday's baker games."

Jonathan Fortin started day one off by scoring 267 and finished in 27th place. He averaged 179.4. However, Jacob Mattison was the Redtails' top player with a 188.8 average and finished in 23rd. For the overall conference standings, Jacob Mattison was seventh, just outside of the all-conference team with a 201.7 conference average.

Roger Taylor, the head coach, said about both the women's and men's bowling teams, "Our team can bring the heat as long as the energy level stays on the higher side, but if the energy dips, then the scores dip too, so our goal is to make sure we keep things loose, relaxed and the energy high, and we'll be able to finish out the season on a high note."

The next event is back in Cedar Rapids for the KoHawk Invite, hosted by Coe College on February 3.
