No School Records Safe From the RedTails Golf Squad

MARION-Only one school record is left standing (in a tie) after the RedTails eighth place finish in the Klocke Family Classic held September 7-8 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.

The team's consistency was a key contributor in producing the lowest team 36-hole tournament score in school history (626). They also struck down the team 18-hole school record when they finished with a 312 after the first round.

The RedTails' historic day was guided by the fantastic freshman duo of Austin Reynolds and Colin Kitson. Reynolds and Kitson put up identical scores in the first and second rounds (74, 75), to complete the Classic, both boasting a 149 and finishing in a tie for 11th place. The two now share school records for best individual 18-hole round with Ethan Yahr, and best 36-hole tournament score.

The whole team brought their A-game to the course, as everyone shot well through the weekend. Derrick Schorg posted a stellar first round (76) that was highlighted by his five birdies in the round. Schorg would finish the meet with a score of 165. Ethan Fox and Ethan Jaso would round out the scoring for the RedTails, posting tournament totals of 170 and 171 respectively.

"Assistant coach Bill Sutton and I were very pleased with the overall results from this past weekends play," said head coach Micah Destival. "Several school records were broken which is always exciting and two freshman tied for 11th overall in a very good field. We are looking forward to building on these results going forward."
