Male Athlete of the Year: Austin Reynolds

The student-athlete of the year award commemorates RedTail student-athletes who embody the ideals of the Hawkeye Community College Athletic Department. These student-athletes have distinguished themselves amongst their peers through excellence in their respective sport or sports as well as their academic achievements over the course of a year.=

This student-athlete is a distinguished member of the men's golf team. Many who know him and have had the pleasure of meeting him would describe him as a very genuine and humble person. In his freshman season, he posted a tournament best 78 this past fall. Unfortunately, the spring season for the golf team was cut short this year, and in turn he was not able to take all his work from this winter and display it on the course this spring. He sported a 3.89 GPA this past fall, taking 19 credit hours in the turf management program and working a part-time job on top of it all. He is a leader on the team, and is always willing to help his teammates get better. This year's male student-athlete of the year award goes to Austin Reynolds of men's golf!
