RedTail Men’s Golf Receives Eighth Place in the Upper Iowa Spring Invite

WATERLOO–The RedTail Men's Golf team competed in the Upper Iowa Spring Invite on April 6-7, 2024, and they received eighth place out of the 17 teams that were there. Even though it was windy and rainy for most of the tournament, the team still had some great performances. Head coach Micah Destival said, "It was another tough weather tournament that we did some good things at, but still aren't where we'd like to be score-wise heading down the stretch towards that postseason."

However, the team did have some excellent individual scores. "We did improve on day two and Kaeden Anderson fired an excellent round of 74 as did Tristin Sorgenfrey with a 78," said Destival. Kaeden Anderson came in 11th place overall with 154 points for both rounds. Tristin Sorgenfrey also had a great couple of rounds, as he scored in 19th place, his total score was 158 points.

Other individuals that competed also had some great scores. Bruno Marti Jimenez came in 38th place with 162 points for both of his rounds. Emil Christensen has 167 points giving him 56th place. Will Steege was one stroke behind him at 168 points (61st place), where he tied with Nash Arbuckle. Oskar Kahr got 74th place with 172 points, and Mauricio Jimenez got 82nd place with 175 points.

As the weather conditions continue to improve, the team is hopeful that they can get their scores up as well. Destival said, "I am looking forward to the weather improving this week and playing in our district preview on Monday, April 8, at Gates Park in Waterloo." Great work RedTail Men's Golf!
