Men's Soccer Falls in Home Opener 2-0

WATERLOO – The Hawkeye Community College men's soccer team suffered a tough, 2-0 home loss in its season opener against Heartland Community College.

The RedTails played a hard-fought, physical game as they relied heavily on their defensive front, but Heartland broke a scoreless tie in the second half with a break-away goal by forward Trevor Kacou in the 54th minute. Heartland's Owen Punselie added an insurance goal in the 74th minute.

"We have to work on coming together as a team and fiercely competing for the entire game." said Hawkeye midfielder Isaac Carr. "We underestimated our opponent. We need to keep the fire going and step up as a team."
