Second Ranked Reivers Too Much For RedTails

WATERLOO-The sun made a short appearance during the men's game against the Reivers from Iowa Western Community College on Saturday, October 5; but the change in the weather couldn't change the RedTails fortunes in a 0-2 loss.

The Reivers used a very physical, forward attacking defense to hold the RedTails potent offense in check. The on-ball pressure seemed to keep the RedTails from finding their rhythm and timing on many key passes that could have sprung players free to get shots on goal. The RedTail offense did find some life and force a couple corners, but just couldn't quite find the connection they needed to score.

On the other side of the field, the RedTails got a great game from goalie Brendan Dally who came away with five saves,  several diving, despite the two goals scored against him. The first goal was conceded on a quickly shot place kick that caught the RedTails by surprise. Dally was helping set up the defense when the shot was taken and scored. The second goal was scored late in the game on a header shot from the top of the box, leaving the game to finish at 2-0.

The loss drops their record to 1-2-1 in conference and 3-3-1 overall. The RedTails play again on Tuesday, October 8, against Scott Community College.

"We played extremely well against the number two team in the nation," said head coach Robbie Carroll. "We made young mistakes when we had possession and panicked a little bit. But, I hope to take this performance to our games this week at Scott and Central."
