RedTails Win Thriller Versus Iowa Cental

FORT DODGE, IA-- The Hawkeye men's soccer team won a thriller against the Iowa Central Tritons on October 10, pulling out 3-2 victory that came right down to the wire.

The RedTails led 1-0 at half courtesy of Brandon Savage before the Tritons stormed out to a 2-1 lead early in the second. Freshman defender Conal Burnett made an outstanding save off the goal line with 25 minutes left to prevent Central from extending their lead.

Jasper Marsh scored the equalizer in the second half before Burnett came up clutch again to score the game winner.

The drama was not over yet, though. Iowa Central put the ball in the net with 25 seconds left in the game, but the goal was disallowed due to an offsides call.

"We started the second half slow [...] down but fought back and brought home the W," said head coach Robbie Carroll said after the nailbiter, "I'm very proud of the lads!"

The victory moved the squad to 5-3-1 on the year and 3-2-1 overall. The next matchup is a home game for sophomore night and is scheduled for October 12 against North Iowa Area Community College.
