WATERLOO-- The RedTail Men's Soccer team fought to a tough 2-2 tie with the NIACC Trojans on October 12.
The Trojans jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first half before sophomore Jake Cawkwell put the RedTails on the board in the 66th minute off an assist from Sam White. The scoring chance came off a free kick when NIACC was given a yellow card.
Cawkwell put in the equalizer late in the 80th minute off another assist from Sam White and Kai Smalley.
The first overtime was high drama with the RedTails getting four shots off and the Trojans getting two of their own. None went in, however, and a second overtime period was needed.
The second overtime was a defensive struggle with neither team getting many looks at the goal.
The game was sophomore night in which the program took time at the half to recognize the players that committed two years to building the RedTail program.
The men's next game is October 16 at Indian Hills Community College.
