Elias Herud Signs with RedTail Soccer

ÖREBRO, SWEDEN–Elias Herud of Grillska Gymnasiet Örebro, a high school in Örebro, Sweden, has recently signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Hawkeye Community College.

"I am excited to come to the U.S. to play and study with Hawkeye," says Herud

Herud claims he has been playing the game of soccer since he could walk and is coming into the upcoming season at Hawkeye with his goals set high. Across his career, the incoming cornerback has played for some of the most prestigious academies in Sweden; coming in fifth in the Swedish Championship and winning the local tournament the Örebro Cupen. Herud also declares one of his best achievements is playing against professional players Lucas Bergvall and Roony Bardghji.

Herud also goes on to share why he's looking forward to his experience at Hawkeye and playing soccer in the States:

"It will be a great journey for both my personal life, education, and sports development. I feel that it's a huge step that I am very excited about! To live in a brand new country as big as the U.S. and meet people from all over the world, these years are certainly going to be amazing for my personal evolution and leave me with the memories of a lifetime. To be able to play the game I love most every day will be something that I really look forward to. I can't wait for this journey to start!"

Herud plans to pursue a liberal arts degree during his time at Hawkeye Community College.
