RedTails Men’s Soccer Falls Short Against the Lakers

The Hawkeye RedTails Men's soccer team lost a close game with a final score of 0-2, to an athletic Iowa Lakes team, Wednesday, September 25.

Despite their efforts, the RedTails only attempted three shots on goal throughout the game and were unsuccessful on all three shots. The Laker's attempted ten shots on goal, where goalie, Valdemar Overby-Poulsen saved eight of the 10.

"The men once again showed growth in their performance. We as a coaching staff were really pleased with the organization, communication, and competitiveness the team put forward today. In a game against the national champions we showed that we can 100% compete at these levels for long periods of the game. The first half especially we defended very well and created some really good chances on the counter attack and could have easily been ahead in the game. We are of course disappointed in the result, but are very proud of the overall performance" said head coach Christopher Remmie.

The men will continue play this weekend as they travel to Sioux City to play Western Iowa Tech Community College on Saturday, September 28, at 1:00 p.m.
