Men’s Track and Field has Strong Performance at Region XI Championships

WARRENSBURG, MO–The RedTail Men's Track and Field team showed off their talents with multiple top five finishes February 20 at the Region XI Championships, hosted by the University of Central Missouri.

A number of RedTail student-athletes performed well throughout the weekend, helping the RedTails to a fourth place finish as a team. Blake Veenstra had another solid weekend of throwing, as he placed third in the shot put, and seventh in the weight throw.

Blake Osborn was another standout individual, placing third with a time of 22.24 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Osborn was also on the distance medley relay team that placed fourth with a time of 10:38.23.

Sam Mickelson and Harrision Vanderlinden, who were also on the fourth place distance medley relay team, both placed in the top five events that they ran individually. Mickelson pieced together a strong mile run, placing third, while Vanderlinden ran a strong 5000, placing fourth.

Jojo Frost rounded out the list of outstanding runners, leading the 400 from wire to wire before finishing narrowly in second place.

"The men's team really battled hard, from the 200, 400, 600, mile, 5k and 4x4 we saw a number of photo finishes," said head coach Tyler Mulder. "The RedTails ran through the line and gave the extra effort to fight off their opposing teams."

The RedTails will look to carry their momentum into their next meet, the 2021 NJCAA Indoor National Championships, which will be held in Pittsburg, Kansas, on March 5-6.
