RedTail Track Sets The Standard at Jack Jennett Invitational

On Friday January 19th, the Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the Jack Jennett Invitational hosted at the UNI Dome, in Cedar Falls.

The Men's team had a tremendous start to the season with a podium sweep in the high jump. Freshman Nathan McFarland took first place with a height of 1.93m. Following Mc Farland were three of his teammates, Matthew Benedict in second (1.88m), Aaron Campbell (1.83m), Kasey Wirtjes in fourth place (1.83). Travis Brace and Tyler Bartels also placed in the Top 10,  Brace coming in eighth (1.63m), and Bartels in ninth (1.53m).

The Men's 4x400 Relay team scored first with Cutler, Kearney, Sheridan and Knockel (3:30.29) and eighth with Carlson, Even, Wirtjes, and Kopsa (3:45.48).

In the 200m Evan Kearney and Carter Even scored in the top ten. Kearney with a time of 23.26 and Even, with a time of 23.41. Senior Kenny Cutler achieved a PR during the 200m with a time of 24.39.

Anthoneih Kopsa scored seventh in the Men's 400m with a time of 56.26.

Kaden Miller finishes fourth in the 600m (1:31.53), Brennen Sager finishes fifth (1:32.17), and Austin Langreck finishes sixth (1:32.74).

Kory Sweeney, a senior RedTail raced a 5:08.28 mile, a PR for the senior.

In the Men's Pole Vault Travis Brace and Aaron Campbell represented the RedTails. Brace finishes ninth with a height of 3.20m. Campbell finished with a height of 3.05m.

In the men's weight throw Tino Tamayo finished fourth (15.65m), Brandt Williams finished eighth (13.97),Beau Brackemeyer came in fourteenth (12.78m), and Adam Smith came in sixteenth (12.45m). 

Scott Roberts gave this quote when asked about the team's performance, "Overall, I was pleased with our first performance of the year.  This sets a baseline performance and we will try to better our marks each week."
