RedTail Men Take on the NJCAA Indoor Nationals

GAINESVILLE, FLA.- RedTail Men's Track and Field found great success at the NJCAA Indoor Nationals March 1-2, bringing home two second-team All-American titles and setting several personal best times.

The highlight was having freshman Adam Smith and sophomore Tino Tamayo become second-team All-Americans. In the shot put, Smith finished 10th place (14.26m) and was just one spot out of the finals. Tamayo finished 10th place (16.61m) in the weight throw and missed the finals by one spot.

RedTails 4x400 of Evan Kearney, Sean Knockel, Kaden Miller, and Kenny Cutler finished in 18th place, running one of their fastest times of the year with a 3:23.60. Coach Scott Roberts commented, "All four competitors ran their fastest splits."

Sophomore Brandt Williams also competed at nationals in the weight throw and finished in 20th (12.85m). Freshman Nathan McFarland entered the high jump competition sick and almost reached the first height.

Coach Roberts commented that the team did well due to having limited national experience. Roberts said they will return to the outdoor season, be competitive, and do well at the national championships. Roberts said, "I'm very proud of the team and the effort they gave this weekend."
