Male Athlete of the Week-Brandt Williams

RedTail Track and Field student-athlete Brandt Williams has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Mississippi River Rumble at Mount Mercy University on April 6th.

Brandt hit the qualifying standard of 50.85m with a 3rd place toss of 50.95m in Javelin at the Mississippi River Rumble at the University of Dubuque. With this throw, he broke his own School Record. Brandt now sits 15th in the Nation.

"Brandt has been wanting to qualify in Jav since he stepped onto campus," said assistant coach Jhawan Horton. "He went from never touching a javelin before to hitting the national standard with still a lot left in the tank. We dealt with a little adversity right before the meet so I'm glad he was able to fight through it and stick to the meet plan. I'm proud of him and excited to see how far he will go because the job's not done yet!"

Williams is originally from Wheatland, IA.
