Male Athlete of the Week-Tino Tamayo

RedTail Track and Field student-athlete Tino Tamayo has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Viking Classic at Grandview University on April 26th.

Tino killed it in not ideal conditions. The rings were full of water so that made them slick. Tino handled the adversity and pushed through it to throw a huge PR. With that, he was able to qualify for outdoor Nationals that is scheduled for May 16-18th.

"So proud of how far Tino has come," said assistant coach Jhawan Horton! "He's hit 50 meters and has the potential to throw a lot further. Now as we prepare for conference and nationals we are looking to chase that school record!"

Tamayo is originally from Charles City.
