Sports Shooting Earns Multiple National Titles

The Hawkeye Community College sports shooting team earned several championships at the SCTP Division IV National Tournament hosted in Marengo, Ohio, on October 26-28. The RedTails earned titles in skeet, five-stand, sporting clay, bunker trap, and trap, earning a High Overall Division VI championship.

The RedTails had an excellent performance in the 50 Target Bunker Trap event. Elise Davis led the RedTails with a score of 36. Carter Farley and Zachary Abbas earned 35 and 34 birds apiece.

Braxton Childers led the RedTails with high scores in trap single event, earning 194 birds, while collecting 176 birds in skeet. Farley and Patrick Kuper tallied 187 birds apiece in the trap single event.

Davis anchored the women's performance, earning herself an impressive score of 189 birds in the trap single event. Davis also participated in the five-stand event, where she placed fifth.

The RedTails continue their season in spring 2019 as they compete against several conference opponents and in the Iowa State Trap Championship.
