RedTail Sports Shooting Triumphs at ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championships

San Antonio, TX - The RedTail Sports Shooting team showcased their exceptional talent and dedication at the 2024 ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championships held at the National Shooting Complex from March 19th to 23rd.

In the highly competitive environment of collegiate clay target shooting, the RedTails demonstrated their skills, securing an impressive 4th place finish in the High-Over-All category with a team total of 2,661 targets, setting a new school record.

The team's standout performances extended across various disciplines. In American Skeet, they clinched the 5th place with a team total of 469 targets, with Colton Crooks leading the charge with an impressive 98 targets. Similarly, in Doubles Skeet, the team secured 6th place with a total of 432 targets, with notable contributions from Colton Crooks, Elliott Brincks, and Gavin Sims.

Their excellence continued in Sporting Clays, where they claimed 8th place with a team total of 406 targets, led by Colton Crooks' exceptional performance. Additionally, in Super Sporting, the team secured 7th place with a total of 423 targets, with Colton Crooks once again leading the pack.

Individually, Colton Crooks emerged as the team's most valuable player, consistently delivering outstanding performances across all disciplines. His remarkable scores in American Skeet, Doubles Skeet, Sporting Clays, Super Sporting, and trap doubles significantly contributed to the team's success.

Elliott Brincks also played a pivotal role, earning individual honors in Trap-Singles Men's Class B as the runner-up, showcasing his talent and determination. His impressive performances in various disciplines, including American Skeet and Trap-Singles, were instrumental in the team's overall achievements.

Haley Starmer's contributions were equally crucial, with notable performances in American Skeet, Doubles Skeet, Sporting Clays, and Super Sporting, where she consistently delivered high scores, demonstrating her skill and reliability.

Reed Peters' performance was commendable as well, earning him the title of American Skeet Men's Class B Runner-Up. His consistent contributions across different disciplines, including American Skeet and Super Sporting, were vital to the team's success.

Reflecting on the championship, Head Coach Troy Emley expressed pride in the team's achievements, emphasizing their hard work and dedication. "I am proud of our team, they fought hard for every target, the ACUI/SCTP Nationals is the premier collegiate championship in the world", said Coach Emley; "We look forward to the opportunities next season will offer."

With their exceptional performance and strong team spirit, RedTail Sports Shooting has once again proven their place among the elite in collegiate clay target shooting, setting the stage for continued success in the future.
