The RedTails Compete against Southeastern in Sport Shooting Competition

 

The RedTail Sports Shooting team had an excellent performance in their competition against Southeastern Community College on September 7.

 

The RedTails tallied 485 targets against Southeastern's 472. Brenna Leitner and Lydia Covert both had an individual total of 96 with both shooting 25 straight. Brenna took first place and Lydia took second place for the women's individual competition after competing in a shoot off. For the men's individual competition Mason Goche and Chase Bindi both totaled 98 targets with 50 straight and earned second and third place respectively after competing in a three way shoot off.

 

"Our team depth won the day for us today.", voiced Coach Emley. "Many of the Hawkeye RedTails were frustrated with their performances today; yet, others achieved their average or exceeded their average. Brenna Leitner (First Year: Belle Fourche, South Dakota) made a splash in her first collegiate competition by earning first place Female, in a shoot-off with Lydia Covert. Lydia Covert (Second Year: Lakewood, New York) came up just short in her shoot-off with Brenna L, earning second Place Female, with a  third Place. Mason Goche (First Year: Bettendorf, Iowa) earned his second place male medal, in a three-way shoot-off, coming up just short of first place. Chase Bindl (First Year: Spring Green, Wisconsin) earned third Place Male, as he also participated in the three-way shoot-off. "We did well today; we have high expectations for this team; we have confidence that the Hawkeye RedTails will be very competitive.", voiced Coach Emley. "We look forward to our next opportunity to compete on September 20th (Skeet and Sporting Clays)." Go RedTails!

 

The RedTails will compete again at Indian Hills Community College on Saturday, September 21.
