Bio

Coach Darell Phillips got involved with sports shooting at the age of twelve. He was introduced to the sport by one of his neighbors that was an avid hunter and trap shooter. Darell has been a competitive shooter for quite some time and has obtained several trophies throughout his career. He has placed third overall at the Iowa State shoot, and has placed second two times at the Grand American hosted by the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA). Darell began coaching in 2009 as a volunteer assistant coach for the Don Bosco Trap Team in Gilbertville, IA.

Phillips has always been passionate about the sport as it provides a challenge each time, and is unique in the aspect of being an individual and team sport simultaneously. He likes to work with the athletes and watch their scores increase as they learn overtime. He enjoys coaching an athlete from breaking their first target to shooting their first 25 straight.

Darell currently works full-time at Bertch Cabinets in Waterloo, IA where he has been employed for 35 years.

"Sports shooting is a sport that most can learn to do. If you love the outdoors, having fun, and continuously working on improving your scores; then we want you on our team. Remember, keep your head on the stock, and your eye on the rock!"
