RedTails Drop Two to #19 NIACC

The RedTail Softball Team traveled to Mason City to face conference foe North Iowa Area Community College on April 24th. The RedTails dropped both, losing game one 10-0 and losing game two 8-0.

Game 1: 10 (NIACC), 0 (HCC)

A tough outing for the Hawkeye bats for both games today, putting up zero runs in game one.

NIACC scored early in the first inning to go up 1-0. They scored two more runs in the second to be up 3-0. A big third inning gave the Trojans the pull away win, scoring six more runs to put the lead out of reach for the RedTails. They added their last run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The RedTails were stunned at the plate today, only having one hit on the game by Courtney Hemsley. She was 1-2 at the plate. Sidney Schafer took the loss on the mound, going four innings, giving up eight hits, eight earned runs, three walks, and one strikeout.

Game 2: 8 (NIACC), 0 (HCC)

NIACC went up early in the game, scoring two quick runs to lead 2-0.

The RedTails had a spark in Hemsley who was hit by a pitch to reach first base. Dailyn Marine then forced a Trojan error to put runners on first and second. Harley Gaudet drew a two-out walk to load the bases, but the RedTails were unable to put a run across.

Once again the RedTails had runners on first and second when Caydance Sharp walked and Lizzy Hamand forced an error from NIACC, but could not score either runner.

The Trojans added two more runs in the bottom of the third to go up 4-0.

NIACC scored two more runs in the fourth to lead the RedTails 6-0, and they tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to close out the 8-0 win.

Chardonnay Hubert and Marine each had a hit in the game. Courtney Hemsley took the loss on the mound, pitching four innings, giving up twelve hits, seven earned runs, and two walks.
