Gracie Peck Signs with RedTail Softball

RedTail Softball head coach Courtney Calkins announces the signing of Gracie Peck to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Peck is the daughter of Torry and Lindsy Peck and attends Seymour Community High School. Gracie plans on studying occupational therapy while at Hawkeye.

“Gracie is an athletic addition to our roster for next year,” commented Coach Calkins. “She has the ability to play multiple positions and be a threat in the box. She is one that will make an impact in our lineup.”

A pitcher and outfielder, Peck has found success for the Warriors. Last season, she had a .412 batting average with a .506 on base percentage. She collected 28 hits, 10 doubles, two homeruns, 11 walks, 17 runs batted in, and scored 28 times herself. On top of that, she also swiped 18 bases. On the mound, she was 13-6 and had a 2.86 ERA. She pitched in 120 innings, striking out 94 and walking just 25 batters.

For her efforts, she was named to the All-Conference Team for four years in a row, the All-District team for three years in a row, and the All-State team for three years in a row.

Outside of softball, Peck has been involved in basketball, volleyball, and track, earning All-Conference for basketball for four years in a row, All-Conference for volleyball for five years in a row, and All-District for volleyball once. She was also named All-Conference for track for four years as well.

Outside of sports, she has also been involved in National Honor Society, student council, is a Class Officer, is a part of the Seymour Community Club, and has helped with Drive Through Donation Dinners and Holiday Town Activities. She has also been on the Honor Roll and has earned the Bluegrass All-Academic Award.

Peck had this to say about choosing Hawkeye, “I was looking for good colleges to go to for occupational therapy and reached out to the softball coach hoping for an opportunity to play for them. I loved the campus, teachers, and coach, and I knew it was a fit for me. I am most excited to continue my education and softball career with them.”

“As you can see, Gracie is an all-around student-athlete. She loves to compete both on the field and in the classroom,” coach Calkins said. “She will be an ambassador for our program and will do many positive things for us. I can’t wait to have Gracie on campus next year!”
