Women’s Bowling Consistent at Mid-Iowa Tourney

Women’s Bowling Consistent at Mid-Iowa Tourney

Consistent scoring across three games helped the RedTail women manage a fifth-place finish in the Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament on January 27th through January 28th, 2024 in Cedar Rapids.

The team scores consisted of game one resulting in 833, game two with 848, and game four at 849. Those games were consistent and on par with the other teams in the competition. However, in game three the team scored 754. But they made a huge recovery with game five, which resulted in a 936 as the score.

The head coach, Roger Taylor, said, "On day two the Redtail women started hot in the first game but fell into some rough transition of the lane conditions." Overall the women's team scored fifth place in the tournament and a 5th place finish for the conference standings.

Lauren Funk made her second All-Tournament team of the season where she finished in fifth, averaging 185 on the first day. In the conference standings, she finished 12th, averaging 179.7 for the conference.

Ariana Chesmore performed well as she was just six pins behind Lauren from day one. She finished in seventh and averaged 183.8.

Taylor said about both the women's and men's bowling teams, "Our team can bring the heat as long as the energy level stays on the higher side, but if the energy dips, then the scores dip too, so our goal is to make sure we keep things loose, relaxed and the energy high and we'll be able to finish out the season on a high note."

The next event is back in Cedar Rapids for the KoHawk Invite, hosted by Coe College on February 3.
