RedTail Women’s Bowling Team Competes at the NJCAA National Championships

The RedTail bowling team rounded out their 2024-2025 season at the NJCAA National Championships in Buffalo, NY with three days of competition from February 27-March 1.

The women joined the competition on day two of the tournament with their doubles and singles portion. The doubles teams included Callie Smedley and Samie Camilo, who finished in 29th place, and Madison Dreckman and Kiyrah Karstens, who finished in 36th. Following the doubles, the ladies split up for their singles games. Lane conditions were not what they had hoped for, but Kiyrah Karstens had a good showing as she was about 20 pins over her average with a 526 over her three games. Results for the singles round are below:

Singles:

21st place: Kiyrah Karstens

54th place: Samie Camilo

61st place: Callie Smedley

80th place: Madison Dreckman

After a break in the day, the ladies returned to the lanes for team games where they found themselves on the lower end of the scoring pace and hovered around a 150 average as a team. The following day, the four competed only in the team games since they did not qualify for the bakers. This allowed them to push hard in the morning and finish on a personal high note.

Results for the All Events/All American:

22nd place: Kiyrah Karstens

42nd place: Samie Camilo

44th place: Callie Smedley

68th place: Madison Dreckman

As he reflects on the tournament and season, Coach Roger Taylor had this to say: "Overall, it was quite the experience for everyone and for our sophomores, we thank them for their time and leadership with the program over the past two seasons. These bowlers have left their marks in so many different ways and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. As for our freshmen, seeing them get a taste of what we are shooting for throughout the season, it'll be fun to watch them lead the team next year as we march towards our goals. The future is bright for the RedTails program and it's going to be fun to see how far we can go."
