RedTail Women’s Golf Gets Ties for Fourth Place at the Upper Iowa Spring Invite

WATERLOO–The RedTail Women's Golf team competed in the Upper Iowa Spring Invite on April 6-7, 2024, where they tied for fourth place out of the five teams that competed in the tournament. The weather conditions were not ideal for a golf tournament, as it was windy and rainy for most of the weekend, however, the women dealt with the conditions as best they could. Head coach Micah Destival said, "The women's team can't seem to catch a break with the playing conditions as all spring we've dealt with cold, wind, rain, and play delays. They showed some excellent grit on the second day and shot seven strokes better than on day one in some not-so-easy conditions."

As far as individual scores go, Chase Doland came in 15th place with a total score of 178 points. Olivia Hammel was not far behind in 17th place, where she golfed a 186. Bailey Nuss received 20th place (193 points). Libby Larkin golfed a 196, which gave her 23rd place. Lauren Funk received 27th place with a total score of 207.

The women are excited to continue to get better as the weather conditions improve and are hoping for some nicer weather at their next tournament. Destival said, "We are back in action on Wednesday, April 10, in Indianola for the Simpson Spring Invite and the weather looks to be much improved." Great work to our RedTail Golf team for pushing through the rough weather conditions at this tournament. Go RedTails!
