
Lady RedTails Take 4th at Region XI Outdoor Championships
COUNCIL BLUFFS – Megan Hudson won the 100-meter hurdles and Zarreeel Knox took the triple jump title to help the Hawkeye Community College women's track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Region XI Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Iowa Western Community College.
Hudson's time in the 100 was 15.17 seconds. The RedTails also received valuable contributions from the 4x100 relay team of Morgan Thompson, Hannah Johnson, Zarreeel Knox, and Miara Oliver, which placed third with a time of 53.09 seconds. Meanwhile, Oliver was fifth in the open 100 in 13.44 and Hudson was sixth in the open 400 in 1:02.74.
In the field event, Knox garnered big points for the RedTails with the victory in the triple jump (10.33 meters) and a second-place finish in the long jump (5.13), while Theresa Hatch contributed a third in the long jump (4.69). Haile Cook placed in three events, going second in the shot put (11.68) and sixth in both the discuss (33.82) and hammer throw (31.28). Kayla Joyce placed fifth in the discuss (34.90).
Iowa Central Community College repeated as champion in the team standings.
