RedTails Place Fourth at the Region XL Championships

The RedTails Women's Track and Field team traveled to Storm Lake, Iowa, to compete in the NJCAA Region 11 Championships hosted by Buena Vista University. Women were fortunate to accomplish their goal, earning fourth place with a score of 79.5. The team was pleased with the results despite missing one of our top scores.

The highlight of the meet was in the 3000 meters; sophomore Maddie Tieskotter finished in second (12:34.31), and teammate Anna Dietzenbac followed with a finish in third (13:18.82). They also went seventh and eighth in the 5000 meters.

Freshman Amber Homan had a great meet, finishing second (3:15.76) in the 1000-meter dash and fourth (1:45.59) in the 600-meter dash. Victoria McCraney finished in third place (2.20) in the pole vault, and O'Loughlin finished in fifth place (2.20) after taking it up just last week. Tieskotter finished in fourth place (6:09.64) in the one-mile run. Sophomore Kendall See finished seventh place (1:05.60) in the 400-meter dash.

The team and coaches were also really proud of freshman Tasha Williams. Williams competed in the pentathlon for the first time and finished in eighth place. Williams also competed in the high jump for only the second time in her career and finished in seventh. She also made the 60-meter dash finals and finished eight (8:44) in a tough race.

RedTails had a great showing in the throwing events. In the shot put, sophomore Delaney Kopriva finished in sixth (10.71). Her teammate Darcee O'Loughlin finished in eighth (9.98), Alina Bruhlmeir finished in 17th(8.83), and Olivia Hammel finished in 20th (7.74).In the weight throw, O'Loughlin finished in sixth( 12.35), Kopriva in ninth (10.63), Bruhlmeir in 13th (10.02), and Hammel in 16th (7.67).

The RedTails 4x400m of Williams, Homan, Kallie Mincks, and See finished second place with a time of 4:25.69. The distance medley of Dietzenbac, Gracie Rathe, Homan, and Tieskotter finished in second place with a time of 15:09.62.

The RedTails look forward to traveling to the NJCAA Indoor Nationals at the University of Florida from March 1-3, 2024. Then, they look forward to transitioning into the outdoor season.
