RedTail Women’s Track and Field come in seventh place at the Mississippi River Rumble

DUBUQUE–The RedTail Women's Track and Field team competed in the Mississippi River Rumble on April 6, 2024, at the University of Dubuque where they scored a total of 20 points and seventh place overall. Head coach Scott Robers said that considering the weather, "We are very proud of these results." It was cold and windy for their meet.

Freshman Kallie Mincks came in 23rd for the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.09 seconds. Her freshman teammate, Grace Rathe was not far behind her, as she came in 26th place running a time of 14.31 seconds. 

Grace Rathe also ran in the 200-meter dash, where she got 26th place (30.63 seconds). 

Freshman Kendall See ran a personal best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.38. This gave her third place overall. 

For the distance runners, sophomore Amber Homan came in first place for the 800-meter dash. She ran a personal record and also qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals with a time of 2:20.91. Freshman Maddie Tieskotter competed in the 1500-meter dash where she got 16th place. She ran a time of 5:52.00. Sophomore Anna Dietzenbach got a personal record in the 3000-meter dash scoring in eighth place (13:09.60). 

In the 100-meter hurdles, Kallie Mincks got 13th place while running a time of 18.17 seconds. 

The RedTails only had one relay team participating in the meet which consisted of Kendall See, Grace Rathe, Kallie Mincks, and Amber Homan in the 4x400 relay. However, they did not score any points. 

Sophomore Delaney Kopriva scored 17th place in the shot put, and she threw a personal record of 10.47 meters. Freshman Darcee O'Loughlin also had a personal record throwing 8.96 meters. This gave her 25th place. Another personal record was broken by Alina Bruhlmeier who came in 29th place (8.71 meters). Sophomore Elyse Trunck came in 32nd place throwing 8.49 meters. 

Elyse Trunck also competed in discus where she scored in 12th place (34.43 meters). In the hammer throw, Elyse threw 31.54 meters, which gave her 20th place overall. Her teammate Delaney Kopriva came in 23rd place (29.46 meters). 

Overall, the women performed well, and are excited to continue to break those personal records. Roberts said, "We were overall pleased with the performance. This is a good early season meet and good early season test for us." The RedTails next track event will be held at Drake University on April 12, 2024, for the Jim Duncan Invite and some of the runners will be going to Mount Vernon, Iowa for the Cornell Invitational.
