The Women’s Track and Field Team Competes in Two Meets in One Weekend!

On April 12, 2024, freshman Amber Homan traveled to Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Jim Duncan Invitational. In the 800-meter race, she ran a time of 2:22.81, where she came in ninth place overall. On April 13, she joined the rest of her teammates at Mount Mercy University to compete in the Mustang Distance Carnival Open. Where our RedTails had a beautiful day for an outdoor track meet even though they were running in some windy conditions. Head coach, Scott Roberts said, "We had a tremendous weekend for track."

Starting with the 100-meter dash, freshman Tasha Williams received 14th place running a time of 13.02 seconds. Her teammate, Grace Rathe (sophomore), came in 29th place, where she ran a time of 13.89 seconds. And sophomore Victoria McCraney ran a time of 14.82 seconds giving her 36th place. Congratulations to these three RedTails for receiving personal record times in the 100-meter dash! 

In the 100-meter hurdles sophomore Kallie Mincks received 13th place, as she ran a time of 17.43 seconds. 

The 200-meter dash was an exciting race as Tasha Williams ran 27.51 seconds receiving 18th place overall. Freshman Kendall See got a time of 28.07 seconds, which gave her 28th place. And Grace Rathe came in 48th place (30.21 seconds). 

In the 800-meter race, Amber Homan ran a time of 2:25.43, and she received seventh place overall. 

The 1500-meter race was very successful for sophomore Maddie Tieskotter. She ran a time of 5:47.98, which gave her sixth place. Also running the race was freshman Anna Dietzenbach, however, she did not score. 

The women's 4x100 meter relay received a seasonal best time of 52.25 seconds. They came in third place overall. The girls running were Kallie Mincks, Kendall See, Grace Rathe, and Tasha Williams. Great race ladies! 

For the 4x400 meter race, the women did not score, but the runners were Tasha Williams, Amber Homan, Kendall See, and Kallie Mincks

For the field events, sophomore Elyse Trunck came in 22nd place for women's discus throw. She threw 31.65 meters. Freshman Olivia Hammel was not far behind her coming in at 26th place (26.96 meters). In 33rd place was freshman Darcee O'Loughlin throwing 24.93 meters. Freshman Alina Bruhlmeier got 40th place with 15.37 meters. 

In the hammer throw Elyse Trunck came in 21st place throwing 35.71 meters, which is her personal best. Sophomore Delaney Kopriva also threw a personal record with 34.79 meters (23rd place). Great job breaking records ladies! Olivia Hammel received 26th place (31.58 meters). Darcee O'Loughlin got 30th place with 29.26 meters. And Alina Bruhlmeier came in 34th place, where she threw 24.24 meters. 

In the women's shot put, Delaney Kopriva received another personal record with 10.99 meters. This gave her sixth place overall. Darcee O'Loughlin got 22nd place, where she threw 8.33 meters. Olivia Hammel's throw was not marked, but she received 26th place overall. Roberts said, "Our women throwers did an outstanding job this weekend, and we were very pleased with the performances." 

"We had many season and personal records this weekend," said Roberts. "We are at the point in the season where we need those times to start coming down, and they are." Next week the RedTails will be competing at Augustana College for the Augustana Meet of Champions on April 19, 2024. Great job this weekend RedTails! Roberts said, "We are very pleased and proud of the group at this time."
