The Women's Track and Field Team Competes at Drake Relays and Viking Classic

DES MOINES–RedTails Women's Track and Field traveled to Des Moines as some teams competed at Drake Relays, and the rest was at the Vikings Classic. 

The 4x200 relay team of Kallie Mincks, Kendall See, Gracie Rathe, and Tasha Williams ran down at Drake Relays and finished in 27th place at 1:50.94. 

The rest of the RedTails team competed on April 26 at the Viking Classic hosted by Grandview University. 

Sophomore Maddie Tieskotter ran in the 1500 meter and finished in fifth place at 5:50.63.

Freshman Anna Dietzenbac competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase and finished in sixth place at 15:13.12.

In the Discus, Elyse Trunck finished in fifth place with a throw of 34.94m, Olivia Hammel finished in 22nd with 25.99m, and Alina Bruhlmeir finished in 27th with a throw of 20.29m.  In the hammer throw, Trunck finished in 12th with a throw of 35.23m, Darcee O'Loughlin finished in 15th with a throw of 33.09m, and  Hammel in 24th with a throw of 27.92m.  O'Loughlin finished in ninth place in the javelin throw with a throw of 20.71m. In the shot put, Delaney Kopriva finished in tenth place with a throw of 10.83m, and Bruhlmeir in 22nd with a throw of 8.64m.

Head Coach Roberts commented, "The team competed well this past weekend with the not-ideal conditions; he felt like the athletes that competed at Drake Relays all ran well in the relays, and he was proud of everyone that competed at the meets this past weekend."

RedTails will be back in action this weekend at the Region XI Championships from May 3-5, hosted by Iowa Western Community College. Good Luck, RedTails!
