RedTail Volleyball Sweeps Southwestern Community College

The 11th-ranked Hawkeye Community College volleyball team swept conference opponent Southwestern Community College on Wednesday, 25-18, 25-22, and 25-17.

The RedTails attacked the net early and often, collecting a total of 44 kills as they improved to 15-3 overall and 5-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. Jessica Hopkins led the RedTail offense with 15 kills. Meghan Hudson collected 11 kills followed by teammate Brooke Dreesman, who accounted for eight kills.

Haylee Keune led the RedTails' defense with 13 digs, while Hudson and Alexis Wroe contributed 11 and 9 digs respectively.

"We came out and played our game, but we know we have to compete at a higher level," said Wroe. "We won each set, but we certainly feel there are areas of focus we need to continue to build on."  

Up Next: The RedTails have a busy weekend ahead as they travel to Des Moines on Friday, October 5, to take on second-ranked Parkland Community College and third-ranked Coffeyville Community College in the DMACC tournament.
