RedTails Defeat Grandview, Fall to Marshalltown

The Hawkeye Community College volleyball team had a fair weekend as it swept Grandview University and lost to host Marshalltown Community College.

The RedTails swept aside Grandview, 25-16, 24-15, and 25-22. Meghan Hudson led the RedTails with 18 kills while hitting an impressive .452. Paige Eiffler contributed 10 kills, while Maggie Driscol ran the offense with 34 sets. Lexi Wroe led the defense with 17 kills, followed by teammate Haylee Keune and Leah Carter, who collected 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

The RedTails, ranked 11th in NJCAA Division II, fell to Division I Marshalltown, 25-23, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-17. Hudson led the RedTails with 21 kills, which was her fourth match this season with more than 20. Jessica Hopkins followed with a season-high 16 kills and a remarkable kill percentage of .552, while Maggie Driscol piled up 42 assists. Haylee Keune led the RedTail defense with 23 digs, followed by teammate Leah Carter's 17.

Up next: The RedTails (17-7 overall, 6-2 conference) travel to West Burlington to take on Southeastern Community College in their final regular-season game on Wednesday, October 24.
