No. 18 RedTails Win Regular-Season Finale

The 18th-ranked Hawkeye Community College volleyball team defeated host Southeastern Community College in five sets as the RedTails wrapped up the regular season.

The RedTails dropped the first set 26-24, but bounced back by winning the second and third sets 25-14 and 25-22. After dropping the fourth set 25-22, Hawkeye hit a blistering .300 to take the decisive fifth set, 15-11.

Megan Hudson powered the RedTails with 22 kills, while Jessica Hopkins collected 14 kills and a .286 hitting percentage. Paige Eiffler added nine kills.

Haylee Keune led the RedTails with a season-high 33 digs. Lexi Wroe and Maggie Driscol collected 18 digs a piece, and Hudson contributed 17.

The RedTails wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 18-7 and a conference record of 7-2, good for third place seed in the ICCAC.

Hawkeye begins post-season play at the Regional Finals tournament in Norfolk, Neb. on Saturday, October 28. The third-seeded RedTails take on sixth-seeded NIACC at 3:00pm.

The winner advances to play in the Division II title match on Sunday afternoon.
