RedTail Volleyball Takes 4-0 Sweep in Opening Weekend Tournament

The RedTail Volleyball team started their 2023-2024 season with a successful trip to Rockford, Ill., on August 18 sweeping the OWT Tournament 4-0.

The opening weekend consisted of four matches. The RedTails kicked off the weekend with a win against Highland Community College in the first match and four sets (27-29, 25-17, 25-17, 25-13). Next up was a match against Schoolcraft College. The RedTails kept a consistent score, winning in three sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-14). 

Day two was another exciting day filled with successful matches. The RedTails took on Oakton Community College in another impressive three-set match (25-11, 25-21, 25-7). The last match of the weekend had everybody on the edge of their seats, as the RedTails kept a close score with Sauk Valley Community College. This four set match ended in another RedTail victory (23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23). Pyper McCarville had a high total of 50 kills overall from the entire weekend. 

Head coach Tyann Wolfensperger had some positive comments from the opening weekend tournament. 

"Opening weekend went great, we tried a few different lineups and the girls made some really great game time adjustments which ultimately led to our success," she said "Looking forward to a big week."

The RedTails next matchup will be at home on Wednesday, August 23, at 6:00pm vs Indian Hills Community College.
