Chris Mahi named RedTail Volleyball Head Coach

RedTail Athletics is excited to announce Chris Mahi as the new head volleyball coach. Mahi owns and directs the CIA Volleyball Indoor and Beach Club. Mahi worked as the RedTails livestream color commentator in 2023.

Mahi began her love for volleyball in college, as she was a student-athlete at Graceland University. After college, she had various experiences with athletic training, including volunteering for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. She then became an assistant coach for Bradley University until 1997. She worked as the Illinois State University Assistant Coach for a year before moving to the University of Oklahoma. There she worked on the recruitment process and recruited athletes who earned second and third Team All-American, All-Region, and Four All-Big XII Honors. Mahi then moved to Iowa in 2004 and took a volunteer position for the University of Northern Iowa Volleyball team.

Mahi is passionate about volleyball, and she knows that it can have a positive impact on athletes. Her goal is to provide life-changing opportunities by coaching her athletes to become motivated leaders and build relationships. She is dedicated to finding new ways for players to become the best version of themselves.

Mahi is looking forward to her new position with the RedTail Volleyball team.

RedTail Athletic Director Ethan Crawford is also excited about the news.

"I'm very grateful to have someone of Coach Mahi's caliber leading our volleyball program," said Crawford. "She has a tremendous passion for the sport of volleyball and puts a heavy emphasis on team culture. With her vast experience and deep connections to club volleyball in the midwest, the RedTail volleyball program is set up for many years of success."
