RedTails Fall to WIT
The volleyball team traveled to Sioux City where they faced Western Iowa Tech Community College on Thursday, September 12. Despite leading the first two sets, the Comets pulled off a reverse sweep, winning 2-3.
The RedTails started off strong, winning the first set (25-18) and taking the second set (25-22). Despite leading 2-0, the Comets turned it around, winning the third set (18-25), the fourth (14-25), and finally taking the game in fifth, winning (11-15).
Head Coach Christy Mahi had some thoughts about the match:
"Western Iowa Tech settled down in the third set and really reduced the number of errors they made in the first two sets. They also really picked up their serving game and took us out of system more in sets three, four, and five.
We are a very good team when we are in system. We will continue to work on being a very good team when we are out of system as that will happen from time to time this season."
Leading the team in attacks was Emersyn Secora with 18 kills, hitting .250. Mallory Tisue also contributed 16 kills while hitting .387.
Nohea Mahi contributed 43 assists and 19 digs.
Lexi Gehrke led all defenders with 25 digs.
The RedTails continue play this weekend, September 13-14, at the NDSCS Tournament in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
