Women's Cross Country Places 26th at Nationals

FORT DODGE- The Hawkeye Community College Women's Cross Country team concluded their fall season with a great team showing at the NJCAA National Meet held in Fort Dodge on November 11.

The 5K course at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge proved to be a challenging trek for the 310 individual runners and 42 qualifying junior college teams. The RedTails were lead by Joanna Topham, who closed out an incredible freshman season with a 36th place finish in a time of 19:22.3. Finishing next for the RedTails was sophomore Mikki Mundus with a time of 20:35.0 to  finish 114th. Pekin grad, Shea Dahlstrom was the next to cross the finish line, as the freshman finished with a time of 21:11.6. Atlanta Groeneveld would finish 4th for the team to wrap up the scoring at 727 for the RedTails. Groeneveld finished with a time of 22:25.8, followed by Divine Washington (25:17.0) and Hannah Johnson (25:54.0) would round out the runners for an impressive showing by the RedTails, who would finish 26th overall in the inaugural season.

Host school Iowa Central Community College finished with 52 team points to complete the sweep in both the Men's and Women's titles.

The RedTails graduate just 2 runners from this years team, and will have 5 returning runners with experience for the 2018 season.
