BETTENDORF - The Hawkeye RedTails women's cross country team took runner-up at the 2018 Region XI Time Trials hosted by Scott Community College.

The RedTails finished close behind conference powerhouse Iowa Central, scoring 33 points to the Tritons' 31. The women placed five runners in the top 10, led by sophomore All-American Joanna Topham, who took fourth with a time of 21:04. On Topham's heels was freshman Madison Larsen, who was fifth in 21:24, followed by Carly Hasken (22:48), Shea Dahlstrom (22:56), and Rebecca McDermott (23:04) taking seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.

"The course conditions were hot and humid, reaching 95 degrees at race time," said RedTails head coach Tyler Mulder. "Our team ran tight as a pack. Topham and Larsen both finished in the top five, but their teammates weren't far behind as seven girls on the team all placed in the top 20. They're still building mileage, so for them to finish in a close second means we are in a good position as we get into the heart of the season."

NIACC finished third with 58 points.
