Women’s Cross Country Competes With D1 Competition at Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY–The RedTail Women's Cross Country team placed seventh at the Hawkeye Invitational on September 6 in a competitive 4K race against a strong field of DI teams.

Iowa, Iowa State, Drake and UNI were among the competition at the meet. These big names didn't deter the RedTails from running some good personal times. Lacey Jackson led the RedTails with a time of 17:13.3, which isn't far off from her own school record.

Kaylee Hosch (19:25.9) and Miranda Oldenburger (19:34.6) were the next two RedTails to finish the race, while Adeline McDermott (20:04.8) and Rachel Wardell (20:08.7) rounded out the top five.

"Overall the women's team saw some gritty performances from Addie McDermott, who closed hard, and Rachel Wardell, who made her debut in a RedTail uniform getting into the top five," said head coach Tyler Mulder. "I'm excited to see the women compete against high level teams, they showed fearlessness & had fun."
