RedTails Cross Country Team Improves At NIAAC

MASON CITY- The women's cross country team looked great last Friday, placing 10th in the meet and posting great running times despite foul weather.

The RedTails were led by Lacey Jackson, who ran an impressive 22:17 at the meet. Kaylee Hosch, Rachel Wardell, and Miranda Oldenburger all ran under 24:00, while Maddie Erhardt and Adeline McDermott finished with times of 24:06 and 27:23.

After a hiatus from competing, coach Tyler Mulder was pleased with the teams performance. "It was cold but the girls prepared well and made the best of the situation by nearly placing all top 5 girls under 24:00," Mulder stated after the meet. "Despite the conditions, this was a good meet for the ladies even though they haven't raced in 3 weeks."

New rankings come out this week, and the lady RedTails are hoping they can crack the top 25 national rankings. Coach Mulder is already looking forward to regionals which will be hosted on October 25. "We are really coming around as a unit and we're looking forward to regionals as we're finally all healthy and getting fit."

The Women's cross country team hopes to keep the momentum going, as they travel to Indian Hills Community College October 25 to compete in regionals.
