Hawkeye Dance Hosts The Dance Challenge

On March 1st, the Hawkeye Community College Dance team hosted The Dance Challenge as part of a fundraiser for the RedTail dance team. Kids of all ages (3 years old up to the collegiate level) came out to perform at the HESC center located on campus. There were a total of 135 routines, all ranging from solos, duos/trios, small group and large group performances. All kinds of styles of dance filled the lineup including lyrical, hip hop, pom, jazz and contemporary. RedTail head dance coach Abigail Kopriva was very excited on how the day went for everyone who participated and all the fundraising to go along with it.
"What an amazing day for a dance competition on campus," said Kopriva. "We had close to 200 dancers and 400 spectators. The dance team did a great job making sure the dancers were lined up and ready for their routines. We were able to raise $1,831 towards our program. We are hoping to be able to add this competition again in the future! Thank you to all the families and dancers that came out to compete!"
