RedTail Men’s and Women's Bowling Teams Compete in Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament

This past weekend, the RedTails traveled down to Cedar Rapids for our first Mid-Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament of the season. Both varsity teams finished seventh out of nine teams, and they handled themselves very well. There were some struggles here and there, but overall, they were able to come together and put something together.

On the ladies' side, Freshman Callie Smedley led the charge, finishing 24th with a 163.6 average for her five games. Just a couple spots behind her was another freshman, Kiyrah Karstens, who finished 26th with a 162 average. The Lady RedTails are still trying to find their footing within these first couple of events, but with a little bit more focused practice, we will find our stride really soon.

For the RedTail men, the top story for the weekend is sophomore Ryder Fleming becoming the second RedTail bowler in program history to throw a perfect 300 game during the competition. Ryder also finished 4th and made his first All-Tournament Team appearance of the season, averaging 221.4 for his five games. Freshman Chris Fordyce was the second-highest RedTail on the varsity team, coming in 25th place and averaging 192.2. For the JV Men, Sophomore Taylor Fox was the highest finisher, with a 173.6 average, he ended up in 40th. The RedTail men are gelling well together, and you can see that when Ryder threw his 300 games, the entire men's team (varsity/jv) stormed the lanes after Ryder tossed that last strike. This will be a special group as the season progresses, and we are beyond excited.
