RedTail Men’s Bowling Team Makes Strides at Kohawk Invitational

The RedTail Men's Bowling team went to Cedar Rapids to compete in the Kohawk Invitational January 25-26. Throughout most of the day both Saturday and Sunday, the varsity men found success by holding onto the top 6 spot over Iowa Western and Iowa Central. Ultimately, the team ended in the eighth spot out of 14 by the end of the tournament, holding off Iowa Western. The top bowler for the RedTail varsity team was Ryder Fleming, who finished in 33rd place with an average of 197.8 over the five games he competed in. Close behind him was Tyson Bramble in 38th place and a 194 average.

Coach Roger Taylor said, "This shows that we can compete and gives us some great confidence going into our last couple events".

The JV team kept their spirits high as they competed against 13 teams at the tournament. Although the outcome of the team score was not where they had hoped, the RedTails scored over their individual averages for the season.

"I think their relaxed demeanor helped them take some strides in their individual games," said Coach Taylor. Taylor Fox was the highest scoring finisher for the men's JV team with a 156 average and a 93rd place finish.

The RedTails will be back in action on Saturday, February 1, when they will be hosting the third Mid Iowa Bowling Conference Tournament, and again on Sunday, February 2, for the Conference Championship. The Conference Championship will feature a match play bracket all day.
