RedTails Take Second Place at Battle of Waterloo

The Hawkeye men's golf team competed in the Battle of Waterloo last weekend at Irv Warren G.C. and Gates G.C. All 20 men on the roster made an appearance on the leaderboard during the tournament. The RedTails hosted three other schools in the tourney including Kirkwood C.C., Viterbo University (La Crosse), and NIACC. The weather could not have been better for everyone, competing with temps in the 80's, a light breeze, and a little overcast for both days.

The A team for the RedTails would take the runner-up honors, shooting a 54-hole total of +24 (888). Sophomore Will Steege continued his hot streak, placing third in a tough field, shooting -4 (212) across the 54 holes. Sophomore Kaeden Anderson also placed in the top 5, achieving fifth place shooting +4 (220). Coach Destival shared his thoughts on the men's play.

"Fantastic two days of play from our guys. We got lots of personal bests and even had our school record tied again. Proud of the work that is getting put in and how the new guys are listening to our coaching. Have a nice two weeks to work on some things as we start to wind up the fall season."

The men will be back in action on Tuesday, September 17, at the NIACC Fall Invite in Mason City at Highland Park G.C.
