RedTails Go Back-to-Back at Wartburg Invite

The Hawkeye RedTails Men's golf team became victorious for the third time this season after a second day come from behind victory. The men took eight golfers including sophomores Kaeden Anderson, Bruno Marti Jimenez, Mauricio Jimenez, Tristin Sorgenfrey, Will Steege and freshmen Graham Bremner, Colton Sullivan and Oliver Thompson. The team fired 302 on day one but raced back from a seven-stroke deficit from the leading team on day two shooting 297 and claiming the tourney win. Two RedTails placed in the top five tying at the fifth spot, Anderson and Steege. Both sophomores fired 148 (+4) for their tow day totals. Other notable scores were M. Jimenez firing 150 (+6) placing solo seventh. Bremner finished tied for eighth shooting 151 (+7) for his tourney total and B. Jimenez fired 153 (+9) for a tenth-place finish. Coach Micah Destival shared his thoughts on the team's success.
"We played a much better second day in tougher conditions and proud of the team for staying in it and getting the win. The greens were a bit faster than we have been playing on and the guys adjusted well enough to make birdies on day two."
