RedTails Host the First RedTail Invitational

WATERLOO–The Men's Soccer team were back at home to play in the RedTail Invitational tournament on Saturday, September 4. The RedTails lost their first game of the day against Southeast Community College 1-4. The Redtails went on to win their second game against Central Community College-Columbus Raiders 3-2 in overtime.

 

The RedTails started the tournament playing the Southeast Community College Storm. The RedTails first and only goal was scored by Tom Preece on a penalty kick. The next game was against the Central Community College-Columbus Raiders. The RedTails fought hard for the win. After the first half the RedTails were down 0-1. They were able to score a goal in the second half of the game to tie it up. The Raiders responded minutes later, scoring their second goal of the game. With seconds left in the game, the RedTails were able to score their second goal and tie the game to go into overtime. The RedTails scored a goal in overtime to secure their win. 

 

"They played a solid game, even when we went down a goal," says assistant coach Nicole Wenzl. "Scoring three goals with a man down and winning the game in overtime shows that our men can play through adversity."

 

The RedTails will travel to Council Bluffs to play Iowa Western Community College on September 7.
