Men’s Soccer is Region XI Runner Ups

WATERLOO–The RedTails are the runners-up in the Region XI championships after losing a tough match that ended in a shootout against Southeastern Community College on October 31.

By the end of the first half Southeastern had taken the lead 0-1. The RedTails came back in the second half with Dilesh Patel, assisted by Tbo Sotoyinbo, scoring the only goal for the RedTails and tying the game 1-1. By the end of the second half the teams were tied and went into overtime. Neither of the teams scored in first and second overtime and went into a shootout. Southeastern won the shootout scoring on all five kicks, while the RedTails only scored four of their five kicks.

"The boys were fantastic, and the game had it all," says coach Leo Driscoll. "Taking the reigning National Champions to OT and PK's shows the character and fight in the group. We were very unlucky in the end as we had a goal wrongly ruled out and Southeastern's goalkeeper had the game of his life. To be Regular Season Champions is a great achievement, first RedTails Men's Soccer to do so."

The RedTails finish the season with a record of 13-6.
