Men's Soccer Falls to Northeastern

The RedTails found themselves in a tough and physical matchup against Northeastern Community College Hawks. The game was physical and emotional from start to end with seven yellow cards and four red cards issued between both teams throughout the game. The Hawks would start the scoring early but the RedTails responded quickly with a goal from Niall Chinn assisted by Joe Farlow. The Hawks would score 1 more in the first half but then lose their goal keeper to a red card in the dwindling seconds of the first half but take a 2-1 lead going into the second half. The Hawks would score quickly in the second half to go up 3-1. The RedTails would fight back with two quick goals of their own to tie the game up 3-3 with less than 15 minutes left in the game. The Hawks would get their fourth goal at the 82nd minute mark to take the lead and that score would hold and give the Hawks the win 4-3.

Men's head coach Anthony Velez had some positive words after the RedTails latest game.

"Wednesday was disappointing," he said. " We had a good chance to beat a ranked opponent and we didn't. Silly defensive mistakes keep costing us games and goals. Looking into Saturday changes are being made to get a good result over NIACC. Going into postseason in two games where we really have to play well to go into the tournament with some confidence. I know our boys have what it takes, they just need to want it enough."

The RedTails next matchup will be on the road Saturday, October 15, at 1:00pm. against NIACC.
