RedTails Mens Soccer Season ends to Northeast CC.

NORFOLK,NEB.– RedTail Men's Soccer faced off against a tough Northeast Community College squad on October 25, falling 5-0.

The RedTails entered the second round of playoffs fresh of a win 2-0 vs Dakota County Technical College. They traveled to Norfolk to take on Northeast Community College for the second round. The Eagles of Northeast came out strong in the first half getting two goals at the 21st and 41st minute mark. The RedTails battled back but the offense for the Eagles was too strong, adding three more goals in the second half at the 58th, 70th and 81st minute mark. The Eagles outshot the RedTails 17-1 in the game and took the win 5-0.

Men's head coach Anthony Velez had some positive words after the RedTails final game of the season and gave a positive outlook on the season.

"Today was not the day we expected," he said. " I think we did everything right in terms of preparing for the game. I asked the boys to give me everything they possibly had and leave it out in the field and I think we got that for the most part. We conceded two goals in the first half from defensive mistakes and errors. That's been something that has been going on all season. We've put ourselves into bad situations and let the other team have the upper hand. Going into the second half we changed a few things and it didn't work. In the end Northeast turned up today and we didn't. The result was disappointing and the season hasn't been what we've wanted. Just want to thank the sophomores for giving it there all this season, in a season where a lot changed so fast. They gave me everything they could and that's all I could ask for. We look now to take a few weeks break and prepare for the off-season and get everyone ready for a few spring games and the season next fall. Next season we will come out stronger and be a force to be reckoned with."

The RedTails season has come to an end with a record of 4-11 on the year going 3-5 in conference play with lots of growth and positive outlook for the future.
