Hawkeye Community College Men's Soccer battled but came up short in a 4–2 loss to Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tritons struck first in the 10th minute, but the RedTails answered back in the 32nd when Kaspar Szikszai buried a shot set up by Joao Pedro Morais, leveling the match at 1–1. Iowa Central regained the lead just before halftime to go into the break up 2–1.
In the second half, the Tritons extended their advantage with a goal in the 57th minute. Hawkeye responded quickly when Marco Petrarca capitalized on a loose ball and scored unassisted in the 68th minute, cutting the deficit to 3–2. The RedTails pushed for an equalizer but Iowa Central added insurance in the 83rd minute to secure the 4–2 result.
Offensively, Hawkeye was led by Szikszai and Petrarca, who each netted a goal. Morais added the lone assist, while Clement Roudil also registered a shot on target.
In goal, Dylan Lyle stood tall against constant pressure, finishing with seven saves on 11 shots on goal across 90 minutes.
